PIMCO INSTITUTE EMEA 2024
project management; signalisation design; digital design; print design
THE BACKGROUND
PIMCO (Pacific Investment Management Company) is a leading American investment management firm that specialises in the management of active fixed-income investments on a global scale.
The PIMCO Institute EMEA is a flagship regional conference designed to bring together investment professionals across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. After a five-year pause since its last edition in the region, the client aimed to relaunch the event with a refreshed and contemporary identity. The challenge was to evolve the design system originally created for other global regions of the PIMCO Institute, ensuring a seamless adaptation for the EMEA audience while preserving brand consistency. The client sought a visual direction that would feel both familiar and elevated, striking the right balance between global alignment and local relevance.
MY ROLE
As the Creative lead in the EMEA region, I was responsible for overseeing and executing all creative aspects of the project. This included designing and art-directing every static asset across digital and print, from marketing materials to on-site branding, as well as storyboarding all animated assets for video and motion applications. Working in close collaboration with internal stakeholders, I ensured that every visual element reflected PIMCO’s brand standards while also introducing fresh, region-specific refinements to mark the event’s return after five years.
THE SOLUTION
I developed a full suite of digital and print assets, including email campaigns, social media invitations, registration visuals, and post-event communications. On-site, I created signage, stage graphics, and wayfinding materials that ensured a cohesive and polished attendee experience. For motion assets, I storyboarded the key animated sequences, providing the video production team with a clear creative framework to bring the visuals to life.
By evolving the established design identity from other regions and tailoring it to the EMEA context, I created a professional yet dynamic aesthetic that resonated with the audience. The revitalised creative direction reinforced PIMCO’s global brand strength while celebrating its renewed presence in the region, contributing to a successful and impactful event relaunch.
The stage design combined printed panels on both sides with a central 32:9 screen. The screen featured continuous animated chevrons flowing from left to right, which transitioned to a static display whenever presentations were shown.
